  • Louisa Bynum

    DVM

    Dr. Louisa Bynum grew up in Davis, CA, and always loved animals. She went to college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, then returned to Davis for veterinary school. She then worked in Santa Cruz before settling in the Oakland area. She and her husband are working on raising her 3 children. Her family also includes two golden retrievers, several cats, and one red-footed tortoise. In her free time, Dr. Bynum is an avid road and mountain biker.

  • Tammy Maggy

    DVM

    Dr. Maggy is a "recent" California transplant, having moved here February, 2000 from her home state of Michigan, where she lived and practiced in the Detroit Metro area. She received a BS in Biology at Saginaw Valley State University before being accepted to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1989. After graduating, she began her career in emergency medicine for Professional Veterinary Hospitals, a 15- hospital group that eventually became part of the VCA family. After an injury in 1995 forced her to give up doing surgical procedures, she shifted gears to more general and preventative care medicine, with a particular interest in Dermatology and some behavior issues. While she is not a specialist in those areas, she does enjoy working with those cases specifically separation anxiety and general anxiety issues in dogs. Dr. Maggy has been with the VCA family since April 2003. Her family includes a 12 year old Maltese, Destiny, who rules the roost, a 4 year old domestic medium hair cat named Harry Potter (AKA Lord Voldemort), an 8 year old male Newfoundland named Tigger, an 18 month old Newfoundland named Earth Angel, and two other Newfoundlands who frequently visit named Rain and Autumn. In her free time, she enjoys many crafts, party planning, and shopping for her nieces and nephews.

  • Rebecca Arntz, CVA

    DVM

    Dr. Rebecca Arntz is from the North Bay. She began her undergraduate work at Santa Rosa Junior College and finished at UC Davis. She attended vet school at St. George's University on the Caribbean island of Grenada. Dr. Arntz has been working at VCA Bay Area since 2005. Dr. Arntz shares her home with 2 3-legged cats and enjoys astronomy, cooking, and reading.

  • Rachel Berkley

    DVM

    Dr. Berkley grew up on the East coast with her triplet brother and sister. She did most of her undergraduate work at SUNY Binghamptom and received her DVM from Iowa State University. She the completed a small mammal internship in Walnut Creek, where she focused on oncology, internal medicine, cardiology, dermatology, and dentistry. She has been a part of the VCA Bay Area family for 2 years and loves the variety of cases she sees. Her special interests are anesthesiology and managing patients with metabolic diseases, such as hyperthyroidism and renal disease. In her free time, she stays active with her spouse and her dog, Andi. They also share their home with their tuxedo cat named George.

  • Shelley LaMont

    DVM

    Dr. LaMont grew up in 3 states: Washington, Oregon, and California. She attended Oregon State University for her undergraduate degree. She received her DVM at Oregon State University and Washington State University in 2006. She joined the VCA Bay Area team in 2006 and has a special interest in internal medicine. She lives in the Bay Area with her husband, Jon, a Basset Hound named Otter Pop, and a rescued English Mastiff named Nikki. She enjoys remodeling her home with her husband, gardening, and being outside.

  • Juliana Sorem

    DVM

    Dr. Sorem is a Bay Area native who spent fifteen years living in Boston, MA and Jackson Hole, WY before moving back to San Francisco in 1996. She holds bachelor's degrees from Boston University and San Francisco State University and earned her DVM from U.C. Davis in 2006. She completed a one-year internship at the Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin before joining VCA Bay Area Animal Hospital in 2007. She has a background in wildlife rehabilitation and has a particular interest in wild birds. When not working she enjoys gardening, movies, urban hiking with her husband and dog, and a good thunderstorm.

  • Marci Ramos

    DVM

    Dr. Ramos is an east bay native, completing her undergraduate degree from CSU East Bay and then earning her DVM degree from the University of California, Davis in 2001. She then joined VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center and completed a one-year internship with rotations in internal medicine, surgery, cardiology, ophthalmology and emergency medicine. She then completed an 18-month surgical internship which included training in soft tissue surgery, emergency surgical procedures, wound management, orthopedics and neurosurgery. She stayed on as a staff surgeon for another 3 years working extensively with boarded surgeons until moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area in 2007. Dr. Ramos has a special interest in surgery including fracture management and managing the cruciate deficient stifle. She is certified in the tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) procedure and has completed training in Orthopedic Planning at The Ohio State University and External Skeletal Fixation at Iowa State University. (She continually strives to increase her skills with yearly hands on training at different events across the country) When not working Dr. Ramos spends her time raising her 2 young boys and loves to be outdoors.
